In this buyers guide we will explain the process of buying from Dealextreme, but it is similar to other websites. Some of these websites accept different payment methods besides PayPal service and have other shipment options, but this guide will only explain to you how to buy from Dealextreme using a PayPal account and choosing the free shipping method. By the way, if you are in a hurry, then we do not recommend to buy using free shipping, because it takes to long to arrive, generally 18 (eighteen) days (our experience).

Well, let’s start this guide and explain how to buy.



What do I need to buy from Dealextreme

To buy uncommon goods and a lot of other cheap products from Dealextreme you need to set up a PayPal account. Other websites can accept other payment methods, but we highly recommend that you use PayPal for security purposes (explained below).


How to set up a PayPal account?

Setting up a PayPal account is very simple. Just visit PayPal’s website, click on the link “sign up“, choose your country and what type of account you want (Personal, Premier or Business), click on “Get Started” button and then fill in all fields of the form (including a valid email address and a password). If you just want to buy online you should choose the type “Personal“.

The next step is to verify your account. Basically, you will have to link your international credit card to your PayPal account. To do that, log in on your PayPal account and click on “Get Verified“. Now you will have to fill in some fields about your credit card. If you filled correctly the fields, then PayPal will try to charge a small amount of your credit card (you will be refunded later) as part of the link process. You will also be instructed to follow some steps to link finally your international credit card to your PayPal account.

If you care about security, then we recommend that, always that you need to inform private information, like credit card number or password, you use the “On-Screen Keyboard” included on Windows systems (or similar on other operation systems). It’s a bit annoying to enter information by mouse, but this measure is to try to prevent keylogger malware.

How to set up a Dealextreme account?

Signing up an account is very simple and it is similar to some other China websites. You will only need to fill in a form and confirm your account (can be not necessary) at your email inbox before to log in . For instance, at Dealextreme’s home page, click on the link “Join Free”, fill in the form (inform the same email used at PayPal) and click at “Create Account”. Now you just have to confirm your account in your email inbox and start buying.


What are the available shipping methods?

Free Shipping: There is no cost, but generally it takes about 18 (eighteen) days between post and arrive of your package.

EMS Express: The cost depends of weight and size of your package, but it takes about 5 (five) days to arrive. Not all countries have this service.



Buying and checkout

Before to start buying, you should to log in at your account to guarantee that even if you close your browser your shopping cart will remains saved.

Browser through the categories and choose your items by clicking on “ADD TO CART”. Do not forget to confirm the availability of the products.

After picking up all products, visit the shopping cart page to confirm your order. If “Enable BULKRATE Prices” is selected you will receive discounts if you are purchasing three or more units. Still in the shopping cart, choose your shipment method. Like we said, if you are in a hurry do not choose free shipping because it can take to long to arrive.

For the checkout step, for Dealextreme and other secure websites, choose “PayPal Standard“. Your browser (Firefox, Chrome, etc.) will be redirected to encrypted PayPal’s website (https), then you need to log in using your PayPal account information and confirm the items and the prices that your are buying. After clicking on the confirm button, you will be redirected to seller’s website showing a confirmation message and your order number.

Now you only need to wait your order be processed and sent to you (it can take some days for some products). Some sellers can split your order in two or more packages if they realize that some items are taking to long to arrive from suppliers.


How to trace an order with the tracking number?

After your order has been processed, you will receive an email with a tracking number, a 13 (thirteen) characters code used to trace packages around the world. The last two characters of the code show the origin post office. For example, the code “RR111111111HK” says that the origin is Hong Kong post office and the code “RR777777777CN” says that the origin is China post office.

To trace an order you can use your local post office website (your country) or use the track-trace.com.


There are some tax or custom duties?

It will depend of the post office of your country, but it is very unlikely that you will be taxed. For example, here in Brazil there is a tax related to movement of goods and services. The value is about 18% (eighteen percent) of original value, but it can be different in other states.

We recommend that you search about import policy of your country, what is the possibility to be taxed and what are cost. A good way to do this is to search for people who bought things from outside.


What should I do if my order did not arrive?

Some stores have a explicit policy saying that if an item is lost they will resend the item or they will refund you the value of the item. Generally, they say to you to wait about 33 (thirty-three) days before to complain about lost items. Be patient. After that, try to contact them by email or some specific form and explain your problem, detailed and kindly.

If they do not resolve your problem, then you can try to open a dispute in PayPal, but you have to do this within 45 (forty-five) days after the day of payment. Doing this, PayPal will try to resolve your problem by investigating the transaction between you and the seller.
